Adult Faith Formation

Mary Queen Catholic Church offers a variety of programs to help guide adults on their faith journey. These range from programs for adults wanting to be received into the Catholic Church, to courses and Sacramental preparation. Programs offered include:

Scripture Study
Selected books of the Bible are studied in a semester format. The study is an academic look at the Scriptures that takes into account language, historical context, and theological implications. No prior knowledge of Scripture or theology is needed to attend. The books to be studied for a given semester are announced in the parish bulletin several weeks before meetings begin. Meetings are held on Tuesday morning at 10:00 am and Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm.

RCIA
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is the process by which those over the age of 12 are received into the Catholic Church. This process is for both Christians of other denominations and non-Christians who are seeking baptism as well as reception into the Church. Because of the highly individual nature of the process, any person desiring to begin the process should contact the parish to schedule a meeting with either the Director of Adult Faith Formation or one of the clergy.

Baptism Preparation
The Sacramental Rite of Infant Baptism is open to all parishioners of Mary Queen and those living within parish boundaries. Mary Queen offers preparation classes for parents and godparents. The program begins with an initial interview by one of the clergy. These are conducted on the 1st Thursday of each month and are scheduled through the Office of Adult Faith Formation. Baptisms are performed on the 3rd Sunday of each month and are scheduled at the completion of the required catechesis.
